From there how do you find the spot?
I want to take a look at it next Sunday (July 1st), and go for a MTB ride up there (Brian, want to join me?)

Hmmmm that is a tough one. I have been twice. But I couldn't give directions to the spot if I tried. Try sending Scott a message. He may be able to help.

Turn right out of the outpost then the first right, then the next right and you should be on the dirt road. Keep on keeping on. There are a couple turns but stay straight on the main road, go past the shooting range, wolfs den trail head and guessing maybe 3 miles past on the left. You go by a little rocky area on the right then over creek bed around a cruve to the right then look left for a culvert drain. Its up in there some wheres. Could show you better than my directions sound. If you here banjo music run like hell.
