| Hello all members;
Carolina Rock Runners will now offer two 2.2 classes. The comp class will be as it is now, using current 2008 USRCCA rules.
Same rules as Comp rules plus; - 100 point courses on course 1 and 2 - seperate finals course (40 point course) - scores go back to zero at the start of course 3 - no dig - all wheels must be driven of same motor or motors
The new class will be a Sport class which is designed to promote the fun of RC rockcrawling. Dig will not permitted in this class.
The driver must declare if he/she is running comp or sport at tech check. One driver cannot cross enter, trucks can not be cross enterred (one truck mutiple drivers)
Sport and Comp Class can run course 1 and 2 togther but will have a different final course. The Sport class will should not have very hard gates on it and a stock Axial should be able to finish it without pointing out.
If I drive dominates the sport series, the club may develope a rule that forces that driver to run Comp.
Everyone, please comment on this, its the only way we can make more people happy.

| This may be a good move. For starters it would separate the veterans who have a strong focus on making nationals and the newbs or those just in it for fun and still have everyone participating in CRR events.
I'm on the fence on the forced graduation rule. in theory it sounds good. But then it forces someone who is not running dig back into the mix with the vets and we're back to square one.
I wasnt there yesterday for the "discusion" on dig setups and im not sure what points got brought up but if your going to compete (with the intention of winning) then bring a truck you feel comfortable competing with. Dig isnt that hard to set up and is well within the rules of USRCCA. There are even some out there that prefer NOT to run dig on their comp trucks. Its a preference thing, like wheel weights and battery location.

| I am equally on the fence about pushing someone out of the Sport class. I discussed this with Mike yesterday, and he mentioned that in racing, you are forced to move up. I see his point and I also see your BigRed, I tend to agree more with you. Dig is not important, everyevent I won last year was without dig. I entered two events with dig and did way worse.
I look forward to this bringing many happy faced to our events.
We will absolutely fine tune anything we can to make the sport class as friendly as possible.
I also think that everyone should run their respective final, not just the top 5 as we were saying.

| I would like to hear the input of others. Specifically those who want to run the sport class. If no one cares enough to comment then there really is no need to run a sport class. | |

| I think this is an excellent idea. As a club, we need to try and please as many as possible and try to keep it fun for everyone. You can count me in for this class until I learn how to drive better. | |

| This is a great idea. It will be a great for the club. I agree with stright 4wd(no dig), voltage regulations and no brushless. I don't think there should be a forced graduation. There should be a class were trucks with these restrictions can compete and win. Dig is a deffinate advantage, or the big dogs wouldn't have it on there rigs.
Where can I go to see the 2008 rules we will be running oncwe avaiable?

| i think this is a good idea aswell... a newby to the sport/hobby myself gets frustrated with only makeing it to the second gate before pointing out.... i am competitive and would love to be competitive with the big dog but dont have the experrance they do... hopefully with time i will.. but not acomplishing anything at the end of the day gets old fast.. would finally end up finding somehing else to do.... so this is a very god idea......
now on the class the trucks should be the same as the rules now just without dig... if you wanted to make someone move up let the champ for that year do it... then they have a year of experence atlest..... thats what i would do... the way you guys r talkin about runing the sport class seem good to me... everyone runs the first two corses.. then clear the scorse or dont score it for the sport class then run the 3rd corse and score it... just my 2 sence

| I like the idea! I'm new to crawling, and only get to practice on smaller areas that I find in parks near me. A lot of rip rap, which gives me a way to test my rig, but not really learn how to crawl a comp course. I want to get out to some competitions just to get experience on different terrain, but I would be so bad for the first few times (at least..) that I would feel like a bother.
If you host any sport class events, I'll be there. I know two others that are getting into crawling for fun, and one that may be getting back into it, that would also enjoy a bit more laid-back environment. I aim to go for competitions at some point, but an 'introductory' level would be a great idea.
I also would support the force up to the next class, but I don't have enough experience to say what the qualifications should be. It's hard to put a solid rule on something like that, but you need to so no one feels singled out. If a person is dominating a class to the point where others feel they have no chance of winning, that person should move up. I think the sport class should be more of a learning or casual class than based on your rig setup.
Either way, count me in!

| I think the forcing someone to move up issue will be resolved over time.
If a single person does not dominate and the rest of the sport class is ok with everyone staying in the class, we will not force anyone to move up. If it becomes clear that one person is winning all the time and is making it less fun for others, then they enjoy the comp class.
I look forward to seeing new faces at the next comp.

| I am pretty interested in this class, hoping to buy my first crawler soon. I am thinking pretty serious of going with Axial, not sure if I will wait on the RTR | |

| I think you are better off with the kit version. The rtr will have several down grades. Such as plastic links.
Also rtr electronics will not make you happy crawling. Last I heard they want to provide it with a 27 turn motor. Great for bashing. likely not smooth enough for crawling. I also am not sure if the RTR esc will have a drag brake.

| hey all;
The sport class worked out very well, lots of smiling faces.
Here is a clearification of the dig rule. Both axles must be drive with the same motor or motors. If you allow something like the cliff climber or OCM, it is possible to have semi dig, by soldering a resistor in line with the rear motor.
So that means shaft, gear or belt drive only. Two independent gear boxes or the mess I run, have to go into the comp class.

| i have an axial boxstock truck. i've had it a while, but never get to crawl. sounds like a great class for me, and others like me who have not had time to figure out how to properly set-up a truck... also, i read in a post on page one, no brushless, but did not find that rule on the rules page attachment. which is correct??? i have a novak goat setup. | |

If three people show up that want to run the sport class, it will be a go. At the last comp I think there were 7 or more.
