| Had a good showing from CRR for saturday in Augusta. Friday night went well, meet up with everyone at the comp location. Great group of guys. Had dinner at logans roadhouse. wasnt the best meal ever, but they did alright for serving a 20 plus party on a weekend night!
Friday aftr dinner most of us put the final touches on our trucks inthe mobile lab stationed inthe hotel parking lot. Big thanks to CanucksRC, Perry was a big help to everyone and was real generous to let us use his lab for workspace.
Satruday morning rolled around and everyone was pretty sleepy, 6:30 wake up call came real early! All made it to tech check just in time. TLTRyan (from RCC.COM) placed 1st in the 2.2 Comp class. CRR's BrandO made an excellent showing by coming in strong at 3rd place.
As saturday progressed we saw a lot of really good looking trucks and met a number of interesting people. We did lunch by the lake then got checked in for the 2.2 scale class. My Embarasing run was made up for by 2 of us carolina boys placing 1st and 2nd in the scale comp class. Reniorbud nailed first with his last minute build, a tube chassied tlt. WhiteTrash snatched 2nd place with his blackwidow bronco tlt.
BrandO's amazing ladder framed tube jeep was runner up to overwhelming victory by a 6th scale ranger. I hope someone got some pics of that thing! i couldnt start to describe the detail. and not only did look very realistic, it could crawl! Powered by a lathe motor and dewalt drill, the big ranger was not at a loss for wheelspeed!
Big thanks to Harold for getting the shirts made in time for the meet. Got a chance to show everyone we can crawl, we can fab, and above all....we can look damn good doing it!!!!!
Thanks to all that was in attendance from CRR and here's to hoping everyone else can make it next year. Now that we know what its all about, i bet we can bring some more of the bragging rights back to the bull hole for '08!!!!!

| Had rules been more clear at the beginning of the scale comp I think Brando would have placed alot better and all three trophies would have come back to the bullhole. He had some trouble right outta gate one on course one. He was the first to run that course on saturday and had never seen it before. Plus the rules about winch use were never discussed and Brandon could have saved himself from costly roll over.
And i have a correction to make....CRR placed 1st and 2nd in the scale comp, not 1st and 3rd as previously mentioned. I honestly feel that with another year of learning and experienceunder everyones belt that next year we will come home with all six plaques.
Another thing i would like to mention is that we have a very promising newcomer to add to the lineup, Revin9k. While he's lurked around the boards for the past few months and even made it out to meet everyone, he's never been able to run with us. He made the 4 hour drive this weekend even though his rig wasnt finished. He made a last ditch effort to get it running on the picnic tables under the pavilion. He didnt get it done in time to compete, but witnesses commented on his ability to pilot his truck as he was spotted running some off course obsticles. He's got many years experience in RC racing and he brings alot of knowledge to the club. Thanks for making the trip lawrence!
Rich got his brother in law to tag along. he brought a pretty sweet looking powerwagon tlt with him. i didnt get to see him compete but if his builds are any thing like whitetrash's then im sure he did pretty well.
Randy showed up with hopes of a frantic last minute build....as is his usual style! but left some key parts home in the carolinas.
Scott, i didnt see you and cameron run, sorry. I know you brought down the orange and white chevy and cameron was here with his trusty rubicon.
Holly came down to show support and look pretty. She also bought the laptop so i could keep you guys updated live from comp central!
One more event tomorrow. The free crawl follow the leader run. Its open class so anything goes. Hopefully this is gonna be my time to shine. With the 2.2s gone and the 40 series mashers on Behemoth i should be unstoppable. didnt see anything out there today i couldnt handle, we'll see though, no one else has had their supers out yet so i may be in for a surprise!
And...the arguement of Mashers vs. Moabs was ended today. Mashers won hands down! Moabs seemed almost useless out here oncethey got wet. Scruff started out course one with moabs and changed to his swamp dogs before the next course. Moabs BrandO's comp rig was running narrowed mashers. | |

| Thank you Reid for the updates. It is nice to know what is going on when you can't make it. All in all it was a great weekend. I think we as a group did well. And I think each of us represented the club well. Thank you guys for putting your best foot forward. You don't realize how important that is. I was happy to place in the comp class. Jason made some very nice picture plaques for the top 3. I made a few mental errors which kept me from a better finish. But I am happy with how it went. The scale truck did ok. I think I ended up 5th or 6th with it. I had never run it before I put it down for the first course. And of course I drew the number 1 position. And on top of it the scorer didn't let me use my winch. That was a mistake on his part and mine. I should have questioned it. But oh well it was fun anyhow. I would have liked to see tighter restrictions on scale rigs. But it is hard to say what is a truely scale truck. I suspect if this comp is run again the rules for the scale class will be much different. Jason took a huge amount of pictures. With any luck one of our trucks will make it into the magazine. Knowing my luck it will be the pic of my scaler on it's side next to the "nothing to it" trail marker. And yes it was before gate number 1. I think I got the "not scared" award with the scale truck. Everyone comented on how nice the truck looked during concourse. Then I proceeded to thrash it like a redneck. You guys would have been proud. She isn't pretty anymore. | |

| After what i saw this weekend, im not as intimidated as before. The biggest lesson i learned was that no matter how much money you put in a rig, or how many cool gadgets it has doesnt matter a damn bit if you cant drive it. And if you can drive well...you can have the worst truck out there and still rock the course. I saw some 1.9's with open diffs do things i didnt think my super class truck would do! | |
